  1. You’re not eating well

What you eat doesn’t just impact your weight, it also has an effect on your skin. If your skin isn’t looking as healthy as normal – maybe it’s blotchy or starting to break out, it could be down to what you’re eating. If you’re eating lots of greasy or unhealthy foods, this can cause your skin to look dull, because it’s not getting the nutrients that it needs. If you want to fix this, swap to a diet high in fruits and vegetables, wholewheat/wholemeal foods – bread, pasta, rice, and lean meats and fish. Oh, and make sure to drink lots of water.

  1. Cleansing and toning aren’t a priority

If you’re not making cleansing and toning before going to bed a priority, this could be the cause of your skin problems. When we fail to cleanse and tone, we end up allowing the dirt and oils collected on our skin throughout the day, to damage it. This makes your skin more prone to dryness and premature ageing, impacting its health. To stop this problem in its tracks, all you need to do is make an effort to cleanse and tone your skin each night before bed. Do this, and voila, your skin’s health should significantly improve.

  1. Investing in your skin isn’t seen as being worthwhile

You know how you go to the hairdressers once a month to get your hair styled? Well, just like you invest in your hair, you should also be investing in your skin. Going to see a dermatologist or skin care specialist every so often is important, as this allows your skin to get the care it needs. There are so many amazing treatments out there, that help to keep skin looking soft, smooth, and wrinkle-free. So whatever care your skin needs, there’s sure to be a treatment that’s perfect. For instance, for brightening and reducing the signs of ageing, Light fusion photofacials can work well. As can microdermabrasion.

  1. Your moisturiser isn’t right for your skin

Just like certain makeup works better for certain skin types, the same applies for moisturiser. If your skin isn’t looking its best, it could be down to the face cream that you’re using. If your skin is prone to being oily, you want to use a light, oil-free formula. However, if your skin is prone to drying out or sensitivity, you should be using a heavier face cream. For normal skin, most moisturisers work well. It can be a case of trial and error when it comes to finding a good face cream. Try out a few different ones and see what works best for your skin. Just like there’s the perfect man out there for everyone, there’s also the perfect face cream. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking and you’ll find it.

Now that you know what may be causing your skin to look unhealthy, you can take the steps to give it a health boost.
