Wedding season is here and I just can’t help but get excited about it! I love getting dressed up for a wedding. However, I always make sure I look appropriate. You don’t want to look OTT or like you’re going for a big night out. You want to look pretty yet classy! Here’s what you need to know about dressing up for a wedding:
Pick a Suitable Length Dress/Skirt
A suitable length outfit is essential for a wedding. You don’t want to flash too much flesh, as this can be deemed inappropriate. If you look at your outfit and wonder if it’s suitable, then it probably isn’t. There’s no reason you need to dress older than you are or look frumpy; you have plenty of options! A blouse tucked into a long, full skirt can look really classy and pretty. It’s figure flattering too! Maxi dresses are perfect. You can even find skater dresses that are slightly longer in length, great for those who don’t like to be too covered up (although we are at a wedding, remember).
Don’t Go for White EVER
Don’t be the girl at the wedding party who wears white. Or anything close to white. That means no cream, eggshell, even nude can be risky. That is the bride’s colour, and you don’t want to annoy her on her special day. Pick any colour that isn’t in the vicinity of white. Don’t do it out of respect. The only way you’re allowed to wear white is if the bride insists on it.
Pay Attention to the Dress Code
Sometimes, the couple will outline the dress code on their invitations or save the date cards. Make sure you pay attention to it and listen to what they say. It’s their wedding. If they say they want everybody to wear a bright colour, make sure you do it!
Don’t Be Afraid to Wear Patterns or Bright Colours
If you have free reign over what you wear, don’t be afraid to wear patterns or bright colours. These can be especially nice for a summer wedding. Floral patterns and pastels can look amazing at a wedding!
Don’t Take the Attention Away from the Bride
You really don’t want to take the attention away from the bride if you can help it. Avoid wearing anything too flashy, like sequins or glitter. Avoid showing off too much skin or cleavage. You can still look nice, you just have to stay classy at all times!
Have an Eye for Detail
Make sure you’ve got an eye for detail on the big day. Accessorize your outfit. Paint your nails to match your accessories. Wear a cute eyeshadow that stands out against the colour of your dress. There are so many ways you can make an impact with the little details!
